Soft & Fluffy Egg-Free Scones

Perfectly rich, tender scones made without eggs — loved by everyone, including egg-free eaters!


 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 10 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups amasi (or plain cultured milk)
  • 500g Rama or WoodenSpoon margarine (room temperature)
  • 1 cup vanilla custard (optional – adds extra flavor & softness)

???? Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the margarine and sugar together until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add the amasi and mix well.
  4. Stir in the baking powder.
  5. If using, fold in the vanilla custard for a richer flavor and softer texture.
  6. Gradually add self-raising flour (or cake flour + extra baking powder) until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms. (Start with about 5–6 cups and adjust as needed.)
  7. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 2–3 cm thick and cut into rounds or squares.
  8. Place on a greased baking tray or line with baking paper.
  9. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Allow to cool slightly, then serve warm with jam, butter, or cream.

  • A side of fruit or cheese
